Moscow Claims Retaliation for Ukrainian Strike in Occupied Starobilsk

Tensions have been further heightened with Russia’s threat to carry out systematic strikes against the city of Kyiv, including strikes on the city’s control towers, drone factories, and government offices. The threat has come after a brutal Russian offensive last Saturday which saw the deaths of four individuals and damage to historical sites such as the Chernobyl Museum. Although Moscow has claimed that these were retaliations against a Ukrainian attack in occupied Starobilsk, Ukraine insists it targeted only a military drone unit. In what many perceive as psychological warfare, Russia is calling for diplomats from abroad to leave, while Ukraine states that its defenses are under pressure due to international military aid being rerouted to the US-Israel-Iran conflict.
